When Jiyoung Lee was 14 years old, she started to paint at an after school program and she's been painting ever since.
In 1986, she attended one of the top private women's universities in Seoul where she studied Chinese Ink-painting. Jiyoung was a student of Sang-Chul Ahn, a well known Korean painter, who taught her how to use his technique of Hoboon. Hoboon is Ahn's way of preparing paper with a mixture of bone powder and glue that creates a unique textures surface for paint.
Jiyoung earned a BA and an MA in Fine Arts at Sung-shin University and taught painting and exhibited her works in galleries and show in Seoul and Tokyo.
In March 1997, she moved to USA and settled in New York where she continues to paint and exhibit her work.
